Last week I was at 'Everyone's a Winner' - the Amateo 2012 conference held at Cecil Sharp House in London taking photos to record the event.

Amateo is the European network of national amateur arts support bodies (equivalent organisations to Voluntary Arts, who I work for), of which Voluntary Arts was a founding member. Members take turns to host the conference, and in this Olympic year it was our turn.

The programme consisted of 3 strands:
  • 2012 Cultural Olympiad
  • The impact of amateur arts activities in the UK and Europe
  • Disability and access in the amateur arts
There was a great mix of interesting talks, lively discussion and some fantastic performances from amateur arts groups Morris Offspring - a group of young Morris dancers pushing boundaries by transforming traditional English folk dance into a vibrant stage performance - and Kinetika Bloco, who are a carnival group of young brass and woodwind players, steel pan players, drummers and dancers.

There was also the opportunity for Quilts4London and A Gift of Quilts to present quilts and pennants to representatives of 9 European nations to give to their Olympic athletes.

Here's a slideshow of some photos I took which will hopefully give you a flavour of the occasion.
